Stuffed Peppers for the Lazy Chef

Jalapeno Stuffing Ideas For The Lazy Chef

These fillings make great tasting stuffed jalapenos, but don’t require any special prep work:

Apple Sauce—both apple sauce and apple butter make unusually tasty fillings

Artichoke Hearts—chopped artichoke goes great with a bit of cream cheese or mozzarella

Avocado—can be sliced and placed inside pepper or made into guacamole before using it as a filling

Bacon—easy to enjoy as a “wrapper” by using a toothpick to hold a slice in place around the top edge of the pepper after it has been stuffed (be sure it is cooked thoroughly with pepper), or pre-cooked bits can be used to add flavor to other fillings

Beans—refried beans or commercially-prepared bean dip make quick fillings for “south of the border” treats

Blue Cheese—this cheese’s potent flavor goes great with bacon or steak and can be toned down by mixing with cream cheese

Chicken Salad—commercially-prepared chicken salad has a nice blend of flavor and texture when used as a pepper filling

Cream Cheese—a good starter filling that mixes well with most everything

Enoki Mushrooms—interesting texture and flavor when used raw and cooked with the peppers, plus they mix well with a variety of fillings

Ham—finely chopped ham is hard to beat and mixes well with any cheese product

Hamburger-- crumbled pre-cooked hamburger or other types of ground beef make quick fillings and mix well with cheese, raisins or beans

Hummus—amazingly good and easy to work with, plus you can add a very thin slice of lemon for extra flavor

Jelly—some jellies, jams, chutneys, marmalades and preserves (such as apple, cherry and orange) make flavorful fillings and go well with cream cheese and/or bacon

Miso Paste—easy to work with and has a potent flavor that mixes well with cream cheese, tofu or smoked salmon

Mozzarella Cheese—shredded Mozzarella is mild but tasty and works well when added with meat

Noodles—flavored noodles such as Thai noodles or pasta with Alfredo sauce can be challenging to work with when cold, but taste great with chopped and used as a filling

Peanut Butter—unexpectedly good, especially when mixed with cream cheese or sour cream

Pimiento Cheese—taste that everyone loves and it is easy to work with alone or with a bacon wrap

Pineapple Flavored Cream Cheese—great alone or awesome with a tidbit of ham or bacon

Raisins—another unexpectedly tasty filling, particularly when mixed with cheeses or ground meats

Rice—pre-cooked rice can be a bit challenging to work with unless it is warm, but makes for mild and satisfying stuffed peppers

Sausage—crumbled pre-cooked sausage makes a quick filling and mixes well with cheeses

Steak—thin strips of raw flank steak or similar cuts of meat cook up nicely when used as a pepper filling

Smoked Fish Dip—commercially prepared smoked fish dips make very tasty fillings

Smoked Salmon—good alone or with a few capers, but fantastic with some cream cheese added

Spam—canned meat products taste better than you would expect when used as pepper fillings

Tofu—tofu really soaks up the pepper flavor and can be quite tasty if topped with teriyaki sauce or miso

Tuna—drained canned tuna or commercially prepared tuna salad tastes great in peppers, especially red ones

Velveeta—cheese food products are easy to use and everyone likes their “comfort food” taste
